Creative Card Design for Mail Call Inspiration

My card today was created for Kristina Werner’s Mail Call for February with the challenge of coloring. My image is one from a class that I took from Kit and Clowder back in 2017. I had colored this image back then and gave it to my Mother as it was one of the first images I had colored.

This is a digital image so I resized the image to fit my card base.

I colored the image using my Copic markers.

Once I had my image colored, I used Gina K’s Master Layouts to cut the image down and a mat for the image. I then added my matted image to a Applemint card base.

My sentiment is from an older Spring Sentiments from Stamping Bella. They have a new stamp set but it has different sentiments. I stamped the sentiment in Versa Clair Nocturne ink and added detail clear embossing powder. After heat embossing the powder, I cut the sentiment down using the sentiment strip die from another Master Layouts set. I also cut a mat for the sentiment. After gluing the pieces together, I adhered the sentiment to my card.

On the inside of my card, I stamped another greeting from the same sentiment set, Spring Sentiments and heat set the sentiment after adding clear embossing powder.

I wanted something else on the inside, so I stamped Gina K’s Corner Blossoms in the lower corner with some Granite ink from Hero Arts. I then added a little bit of color to some of the leaves with some colored pencil. I used a paper stump and gamsol to fade the color. I didn’t want to color the entire image as I wanted to keep it light in color. After adding a light ink blending to the outside edges, I adhered the panel to the inside of my card.

To finish my card, I added some flat holographic sequins to some of the areas around my image on the front of my card. I added a few white highlights on the berries and middle of the leaves with a white gel pen.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Crafting!
