Create Beautiful BetterPress Card with Coordinating Stencils and Dies

Today’s card uses a BetterPress plate with the coordinating stencil and die. Pinkfresh Studios has some beautiful BetterPress plates with coordinating stamps, dies and stencils. By using the coordinating items, you can create beautiful cards. In my card I used the BetterPress plate in the BetterPress system, but the plate could also be used to foil the image to give a different look.

To begin the process:

  1. I inked up the BetterPress plate and placed my paper on top.
  2. I ran the BetterPress plate through my Intri-Cut machine pressing the ink into the paper.
  3. Once I had my impression, I removed the paper and placed it on my Ultra Sticky Mat adding the first stencil over the top of my paper, lining it up with the pressed image.
  4. I added ink to the stencils using my blending brushes starting with my lightest color. Before removing the first stencil I added a little bit of darker ink for more depth.
  5. I repeated the process for each of the layering stencils.
  6. Once I had my image colored, I used the coordinating die to cut out the image. I also cut three additional dies in white cardstock to add behind my image to make it more stable and to raise it up over my background.

By using a Sticky Mat, you can hold your paper and stencils in place while you add ink. I love this as I know my stencil will not move while I am applying the ink.

Tip: By adding additional die cuts behind your image, you get a little thicker image. This gives it more stability when adding it to your card. I also find that it goes through the mail in better shape than using foam tape behind the image.

Creating the images:

  1. I added another piece of card stock to my Stamping Wheel and stamped my butterflies, stamping them twice to get a crisp image.
  2. Once I had the images stamped, I used the coordinating stencil to apply the color.
  3. For some sparkle on the wings, I used atyou Spica Glitter pens.
  4. Once I had the images colored, I used the die to cut the butterflies out.
  5. My sentiment was done using the BetterPress system and coordinating die.

Finishing touches:

  1. I cut a white and pink panel using Master Layouts #1.
  2. I ink blended the white panel using more ink around the edges and less ink as I moved towards the middle of my panel.
  3. I added the ink blended panel to the pink mat and then to my white card base.
  4. Positioning my frame around my ink blended panel, I adhered it to the card.
  5. I then added the sentiment and butterflies.
  6. To finish my card, I added some clear jewels.
