Ship in a Bottle

I have been taking classes from Kit and Clowder for a number of years. Recently, she had a class with a ship in a bottle. I thought it would make a great male birthday card.

My Prismacolor pencils needed some love, so I decided to color the image using my pencils for a change. I had an image of a card in my mind to make but wasn’t sure if I wanted to print the image on kraft paper or regular colored pencil card stock, so I did both.

I used Prismacolor pencils on both images and used the same colors. I was really happy how both of them turned out.

After coloring the images, I tore the paper around the image to give them a little bit of an aged look. I then used Vintage Photo Distress Inks to add some additional aging around the edges. I also added a bit of the Vintage Photo ink around the images.

I decided to use the image on the kraft paper for my card and save the other card in my stash. I found some nautical pattern paper in my stash for the background. I adhered everything to a dark brown card base. To complete my birthday card, I die cut Happy Birthday on some Black Glossy cardstock from Simon Says Stamp. I die cut two additional Happy Birthdays in black card stock to give the sentiment some depth. I didn’t add any other embellishments as I wanted to image to be my focal point.

One final look…….

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Crafting!
