Penguin Birthday

My grandson recently turned 5! I wanted to make a special card for him. For my card, I used several digital stamps from Whimsy Stamps, Penguin Flies, Penguin Slides A-B-C, and Penguin’s Cake.

I colored all my penguins with my Copic markers and have listed the colors I used at the bottom of my post.

I cut out the penguins using my Scan N Cut. I love how I can cut them close, or cut them with a border. Since I was mailing the card, I did not add any foam tape behind them. I used a “Happy” die from Honey Bee on some blue glitter paper and also twice more from some white card stock. I glued them together and then glued it to my pattern paper. The “Birthday” is from Simon Says Stamp‘s Big Numbers. Everything is mounted on a Powder Blue card base from Gina K.

Since it was my grandson’s birthday card, I wanted to add a surprise to the inside of the card for when he opened it. I added the two remaining penguins to the inside so that when he opened the card they popped up.

The inside sentiment is from the same Simon Says Stamp Big Number’s stamp set. There is a matching die set which I used to cut out the number 5.

That’s my card for today.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Crafting!

  1. So adorable and love the pop ups! I have looked at the scan and cut but it is so expensive but I suppose when you add up how much you pay for dies it pays for itself. I had a silhouette once and couldn’t get along with it and it put me off but that was back in 2006! Memory of an elephant lol.

      1. OK you sold me so better start saving if l can stop myself buying! Out of interest, how long do the blades last. I know it depends on how much and how large and intricate the dies are but you use similar images to me. Thanks

  2. WOW! Your coloring always blows my mind! These are so darling and a pop up too! I’m sure he loves it! And YES on the scan and cut! I still buy dies but I have so many old stamps and sometimes there aren’t dies for images and digital for sure! Scan and Cut to the rescue. I don’t mind cutting but time… takes so long to color! lol
