For the past year, I have been taking monthly classes from Kit and Clowder, one for markers and one for pencils. I have been coloring with Copic markers for about 6 years now and colored pencils for about 2 years. I find it so relaxing….no pressure. They say that coloring helps you relax, and I do believe that is true…at least for me it is.
After completing this month’s classes, I was putting my finished images in my stack and was looking through some of the images I have colored over the past years.
I found Copics by accident. I was in a locally owned craft store and saw the markers. I asked the clerk about them and decided that I wanted to give them a try. She suggested that before I purchase some markers, that I try some of their classes for Copic markers. They had a class for beginners that was one Saturday a month. I signed up and spent one Saturday morning a month for about a year “trying” them out. Sadly, the local store closed so I was left to practice on my own.
I watched numerous YouTube videos and even tried some classes from another crafter, but I just wasn’t satisfied and didn’t feel as if I was able to take my coloring to the next level. I had seen a few videos on YouTube by Kit and Clowder several years ago and was intrigued by her coloring. I didn’t know at the time that she offered classes.
About a year ago, I was on another crafter’s blog and she was showing an image she had colored after taking some of the classes. I decided to check it out. At first I signed up for one of her classes. Her classes were pretty affordable and she has classes on different subjects. I wasn’t sure I wanted to take the plunge on monthly classes so one class on one of her topics was a great place for me to start. As soon as I started the first class, I knew I was going to do the monthly classes. I signed up for both, and have enjoyed each class.
This is the very first image that I colored from those classes at the craft store!

Here is another look at the image I just finished yesterday….

Wow, what a difference 6 years of practice can make! Do you see any differences???? LOL!
Here is one of my first images that I used colored pencils on…..

And the image I finished over the weekend….

I think I have improved a bit…
If you are looking for something to help you relax, or just want to learn to color, check out her classes. She is from Australia (I LOVE her accent!) and has such a great personality! (And no, she is not paying me to write this!) She is always available for help if you are having trouble learning a technique. Each class comes with a booklet that you can download AND step by step videos to help you learn each technique.
I have learned so much from her and have enjoyed her classes so much. She also has a Facebook group where people around the world share their work. Everyone is so encouraging! If you are looking for a way to relax, check her out. Coloring is so relaxing, even if you don’t want to share your work.
Thanks for stopping by…and listening to me rattling on! LOL!
