Agh! So little time! I have been so busy making cards, photographing them, and mailing them out, but, oops, no time to do my blog posts! LOL! And, to add to my timelessness (is that a word????) I stumbled onto a free class from Kit and Clowder on Copic markers. It is called Markers 101. I’ve been coloring with Copic markers for some time, but so far (I’ve only made it part way through the class) it has been great! I have learned a lot! She breaks the class down into sections. There are videos and written instructions. I really liked the one on Lightsourcing Basics. She really breaks down how to do shading of your object. I’ve liked it so much, I signed up for her Pencil AND Copic class. Hopefully you will see a few changes in my coloring over the next several months as I practice what she teaches.
Well, back to my card for today…
I used one of Stamping Bella’s images, Harry the Stuffie Gets Happy Mail. I thought it would make a great birthday card, after all aren’t birthday cards “Happy Mail”? Especially if they contain a little something for the receiver of the hand made card???? I used my Copics to color the images. I used the color map that Elaine Hughes has created for the images for my color choices.
I always seem to cut my image out and pop it up on the card. I decided to try something different this time and pop up the background. I first used Large Dots Stencil by Simon Says Stamp and some ink from W Plus 9, Lake House. I really like the soft color. Since this was for a young man, I thought this color was perfect.
I took one of my circle dies and cut a circle from the card so that I could pop the background up over the image. I added some fun foam to the back of my piece and glued it down over the image, making sure that I centered the image under the circle.
I have the Avery Elle Numbered Balloons Elle Ments and recently purchased the Letter Balloons Elle Ments and thought they would be perfect for my greeting. Since there was not a lot of room at the top for both the “Happy” and “Birthday”, I went with using just the “Happy” letters. I inked up some paper using the same ink as my background and then cut the letters out. I used the “Birthday” from Big Numbers stamp set from Simon Says Stamp.
I thought the card needed a little something more so I found a blue sparkle gel pen that I have had for a number of years and drew a stitched line around the inside of the circle die. That was it, my card was complete and ready for me to mail.
Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Crafting!

Adorable! I am glad you explained what you used to make the background because I was going to ask! The soft shades work perfectly with your gorgeous brown bear!
