Today’s cards were all made with “leftover” pieces I had laying around from other cards. Some of these pieces I was going to use but changed my mind when assembling those cards.
My first card uses a background piece I had foiled but changed my mind on the card I was creating. This seems to happen a lot, so I have a lot of “leftovers” sitting around. I also used some flowers I had left over from a recent card. I had die cut a number of flowers and colored them, but didn’t use them all.

For this card below, I had die cut the Scalloped Grid Coverplate when I first received the die but when creating several cards, it just didn’t seem to fit, so I had set it aside. I decided to create a card that the background would fit. I added some pattern paper to the back of the Scalloped Grid Coverplate and create a floral foreground. I dug through my “leftovers” and found some roses that I had previously die cut and colored. I also had some leftover branches with leaves and used those to create the arrangement. A few sequins from my stash and a leftover sentiment and this card was complete.

The card below uses a leftover background, foreground and sentiment. The background is an embossing folder on some light tan cardstock. Once I had the background embossed, I used a darker brown ink pad to drag over the top of the panel to apply ink to the raised portions of the panel. The foreground piece was die cut and then stenciled using different shades of ink. My sentiment was one that I had stamped and embossed on some tan paper but wasn’t used on the card I was creating. It worked perfectly for this card. I few sequins and a gold heart completed this card.

Here is another card made with a discarded background. For my original card I was going to use three to four colors, but had blended my inks a little too far so it went into my stash. The background was ink blended over an oval mask. This one was very simple to make. I added some leftover flowers and butterfly and added a sentiment from my stash. The flowers were inked up using a stencil. They were also set aside as I didn’t like the colors I had used compared to the others on the card I was making. I added a few sequins from my stash and this card was complete.

This is another simple card using leftovers. I had used a cover plate as my card background on another floral card I had made. I didn’t like the shade of green behind my original card, so the background was set aside. The foreground image was a leftover from playing with the stamp, die and stencil. I had stamped the image, colored it with the matching stencil and then die cut it. I wanted to compare that image with one not using the stamp. On my card that I sent, I had used the piece where I had stamped the image, but set this one aside for a future card. My sentiment is one of those that I had stamped and heat embossed in different colors. This one was set aside after I had used one with a different color wording. A few enamel dots completed this card.

The background on this card was a foiled background that I hadn’t used. I combined several different pieces from several different cards that I had made. The borders were from a recent card that I had made. I made several of these borders from different colors, and again, this one was set aside. The floral image was one that I had colored using a stencil. On the original card, I had colored the image in Copic markers and had used that image on my previous card. The butterfly is also a leftover from a previous card. My sentiment was a heat embossed sentiment I had in my stash. I had made several of these sentiments and set them aside to use on future cards. Again, I added a few sequins from my stash and this card was complete.

For my final card today, again, I used all leftover pieces. The background was created after watching a Gina K video on creating a background from different stamps. I had created several of them and decided to use this one for my card. Again, the floral image, butterfly and sentiment are left from previous cards. As with my previous cards, I added sequins from my stash.

This was the second batch of cards I was able to create using those set aside pieces. I used to throw them all away after completing a card. I realized that I could use those pieces on another card. I keep all of the pieces now in containers and when I need a card quickly with little time to make one, I go to those containers and have been able to create a card quickly. I have now gotten in the habit of writing on the back of those pieces with the name of the stamp, stencil or die set so I can identify them. Unfortunately, I had not done this in the past, so I am unable to identify all of the pieces I used.
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Crafting!
