Creative Card Making with Altenew’s Fanciful Pansies

Today’s card uses Altenew’s new Fanciful Pansies collection. This was the monthly subscription for August 2025. I combined the collection with an older die set that I have.

I am trying to use both new and older stamps and dies in my card making. I want to make sure that I use the supplies in my rather large collection. This helps me in my creative path in making different looking cards. I try not to make the same card every time and enjoy trying new techniques.

I first stamped the image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then started coloring the image using the coordinating stencils. Altenew always has a color suggestion brochure with the collection and I often try to use them as a guide. I don’t always have the same colors as they suggest but will try to use similar colors that I have.

My next step was to decide what sentiment I wanted to use on the front. The older Painted Butterflies stamp set has several ones that are perfect for my card. I needed some other occasion cards for my stash so I didn’t make this one a birthday card.

I stamped the sentiment in black ink, added clear embossing ink and used the coordinating die to cut the sentiment out. As usual, I die cut a second one from white cardstock and added it to the back to give it a little more depth.

My next step was to create a background. I didn’t want to use any pattern paper as I felt it would take too much away from the image. I have a number of background stamps and stencils but nothing looked right to me.

I pulled out some older die sets and felt the Gatsby Die from Pinkfresh Studios was the perfect background. It is an older die set that appears to be retired. I cut the base from some darker brown cardstock and the top piece from Whisper cardstock. I glued the pieces together and then placed them on my white cardbase.

I added the pansies to the top adding some slim foam tape in the areas that needed it to make the image level. My next step was to place the sentiment. I decided to place it towards the bottom where the floral image ended. A few brown pearls added to my card and the card was complete.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Crafting!
