I needed to make a card for a Great-Nephew who was turning 16. I didn’t want anything to feminine so I pulled out a stencil that I thought would work.

I have seen many different videos with a “raised” sentiment die cut from a background, most recently from Jennifer McGuire. I thought this would be perfect for my card.

- I created my background using Pinkfresh Studio’s Modern Blocks layering stencil and Altenew inks.
- Once I had my background completed, I die cut my sentiment from the center of my panel making sure to save all of the pieces from the middle of the letters.
- I then adhered my panel to a mat so that I had some cardstock showing where the sentiment was die cut.
- I then die cut three more copies of my sentiment from white cardstock.
- I glued one of the white sentiments into the die cut space on my colored panel.
- Once I had the white sentiment added, I was able to add the pieces from the background that would fit inside the letters.
I find that if you add a white copy of the sentiment into the space of your background and then adding the “background” pieces was pretty easy. I find that if I had waited until I had adhered the “stacked” sentiment, adding those little pieces was much harder to get them into those little spaces.

- Once I had those little pieces in the correct space, I then added the remaining white copies of the sentiment to the back of the “colored” sentiment.
- After the glue had set on my stacked sentiment, I added on top of the white sentiment I had previously adhered to the panel.
- To add some shine to my sentiment, I added Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter pen to the sentiment. This added some glitterly shine to the sentiment.

I felt my card needed a little something more, so I dug through my stash and found some matte dots to add.

For the inside panel, I first stamped and heat embossed my sentiment and then added some ink blending around the edges using one of the colors I had used on the front panel. I then added it to the inside of my card.
