Creative Card Making: Foiling and Stenciling Tips

I have another fun card to share today. I did some stamping, stenciling and foiling. I used an older rubber stamp that I have had for some times.

  • I first stamped my image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink which is Copic friendly.
  • I then colored the image with my Copic markers. I have listed the colors I used at the bottom of my post.
  • Once I had the image colored, I cut it out using my Scan N Cut.

  • I created two different backgrounds, one for my image and one for the card background.
  • For my first background, I used a piece of “left-over” foil to foil the design on a Poly-Glaze sheet. You cut the piece of foil the size of the Poly-Glaze sheet and lay it on top of your sheet with the pretty side up. You then run it through the Fuse machine which applies the heat to “fuse” the foil to the Poly-Glaze. Once you have run it through the Fuse machine and let it cool for a minute, you remove the piece of foil. The foil that has been “fused” remains on the Poly-Glaze sheet producing the “foiled” design.
  • For the second background for my card, I used a stencil and added ink with an ink blending brush.

The “left-over” foil is the foil that is “left” when you foil your image the first time. In this case, I had a Vintage Flourish foiling sheet that I had foiled for another project. When I removed the foil from my Vintage Flourish Poly-Glaze sheet, the foil that was left was the reverse design Vintage Flourish. You can use this left over piece on a Poly-Glaze sheet to give you a reverse foiled image.

My sentiment is also foiled. The sentiment is from Delicate Flowers.

Once I had all of my items created, I assembled the card. I had cut three additional die cuts for the sentiments so it was popped up from the image.

This was a fun card to put together. I love using my “waste” from other projects to get the most out of my supplies.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Crafting!
