Seagull and Bucket of Fries Die Cutting and Ink Blending Card

My card today features more die cutting and ink blending with minimal stamping. This card is inspired by a recent Jennifer McGuire video using the same die and stencil set.

My first step was to begin with my background.

  • The first thing I did was to create the water background. Using a stencil I added ink and then turned the stencil one turn and added ink in a slightly darker color.
  • Once I had my water created, I tore the paper vertically to create the appearance of the waves hitting the shore.
  • I used a second panel and added Antique Linen Distress ink for the sandy beach. I then used a Copic marker to add the appearance of sand particles.
  • I added the water panel over the sand panel and trimmed the panels down to fit an A2 card (5 1/2 X 4 1/4).

My next step was to create my die cuts.

  • Using white cardstock, I cut all of the images out.
  • I then used ink blending to add colors to each of the die cuts.
  • Once I had the ink blending done, I assembled the Seagull and bucket of fries.
  • Since there is a separate die cut for the seagull’s wings, I placed the bucket between the base of the seagull and his wing. This gives the appearance of the seagull actually carrying the bucket of fries.
  • I added a gold star from my stash to the bucket of fries.
  • I then placed my images on my card but did not glue them down yet as I needed to figure out where to stamp my sentiment.

Finally, I was ready to put my card together.

  • After deciding where to stamp my sentiment, I first stamped the sentiment in brown ink.
  • I cleaned off my stamp and then stamped the sentiment in VersaMark Watermark ink. Because I left my stamp attached to my Stamping Wheel, I could stamp the sentiment again knowing it would stamp in the same place as the brown ink.
  • I added brown embossing powder and then used my heat tool to heat set the sentiment.
  • I added my die cuts to my background.
  • Once I had my die cuts to the background, I then stamped some footprints in the sand to show where the seagull had been walking.
