Stunning Handmade Card Featuring Gina K Ocean Silhouettes

I have another card to share that was inspired by a Gina K video.

Here is my process:

  1. Using Master Layouts #1 and my Intri-Cut, I cut a white and black panel.
  2. I used Masking Magic to tape a border around my white panel.
  3. Using my blending brushes, I created a background starting with Sweet Mango at the bottom.
  4. My next color was Passionate Pink. I overlapped the Passionate Pink with the Sweet Mango to start the blending of the colors.
  5. Then I added Tranquil Teal, overlapping with the Passionate Pink.
  6. Blue Denim was the next color, followed by a small amount of Black Onyx.

As I finished with each color, I went back to the previous color blending again where the colors overlapped. I repeated this process until I was satisfied with the results.

My next step was to add the image.

  1. I added the colored panel to my Stamping Wheel and positioned the image towards the bottom of my panel.
  2. I stamped the image using Black Onyx ink, being careful not to press to hard so I would not distort the image.
  3. Because I was stamping over other colors, I stamped the image several times to make sure I had covered the other colors and had a clear crisp image.

By using a Stamping Wheel or Misty, you don’t have to worry about lining your image up to restamp it if you don’t get a good clear image the first time. I usually will stamp my image at least twice, and sometimes three.

To add another twist and add interest, this was my process:

  1. I positioned my die cut from Master Layout #14 over my panel towards the bottom and ran it through my Intri-Cut die cutting machine.
  2. Next, I cut the same die from some white cardstock three additional times.
  3. I glued the white die cuts together being careful to line them up. I glued the colored die cut to the top of my stack.
  4. Since the die was cut from my colored panel, it was pretty easy to line up my stack with the background. I choose part of the palm tree to make sure it matched and just wiggled it around until it fit perfectly.

For my sentiment:

  1. I stamped my sentiment on white cardstock using Black Onyx ink.
  2. Because I used my Stamping Wheel, I was able to stamp it a second time with VersaMark Watermark ink and add clear embossing powder.
  3. I heat set the embossing powder with my heat tool.
  4. I cut out the sentiment with the matching die using my Intri-Cut die cutting machine, again cutting three extra sentiments in white cardstock to stack behind my sentiment.

I previously made a similar card using the same process but without the die cut. You can view that post here.
