Today’s birthday card is Dragon Party from Whimsy Stamps. He is such a fun image to color!
I wanted to use my Polychromo pencils as I have been trying to practice with colored pencils more. I stamped the image on some kraft paper and started coloring. I have listed the colors that I used on the bottom of my post. Warning…there are a lot of colors used. LOL!
I wanted to keep the card background simple to keep the focus on the image. I found some great paper at Bears Den Digital Arts Etsy shop and thought it gave the perfect background for the image. I cut the image out using a die from My Favorite Things, Stitched Mod Rectangles. I then cut another piece of black card stock by hand slightly larger than the die cut. The next size die would have left too large of a border for my card.
I stamped the “Happy Birthday” from Simon Says Stamps Brush Stroke Messages in white ink on some of the same black card stock. I added some Dandelion Yellow and Apple Green Nuvo drops to finish my card.
Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Crafting!

Your card is awesome! Being a Whimsy addict, I had to see how you colored so brightly on kraft. My Copics get very jealous when I try pencils, but one day I’ll master them I hope. Thank you for referencing your die – and what an amazing feat to hand cut the black! So many times we need that slightly bigger mat and the next die is just too much space. You sure nailed that one! Awesome job!

Thanks Pamela for the lovely comments! With the pencils, the trick is to do several light layers. Thanks for stopping by!
