A Little Something Different

Today’s post will be a little different…no card to share today.  I follow a blog called The Daily Marker.  Kathy has had some “30 Day Coloring Challenges” in the past (I believe this is her 6th challenge) and is going to be starting one tomorrow, November 1.  You don’t have to make a card, or spend a lot of time coloring.  Her challenge is to color something everyday, even if it is only for 10 minutes.  Coloring relaxes me.  I have followed her blog posts on all of the challenges and on some days have colored some, but never for 30 days in a row.

Kathy has always had a place for everyone to share their coloring on her blog, and on Instagram using the #thedailymarker30day.  This time, she has created a Facebook group that you can join and share your coloring.  You don’t have to make a card.  You don’t have to even color an entire image.  You can even share a page from a coloring book.  You can use any medium that you are comfortable with, or maybe something you want to try.  I’m going to use the challenge to color images so that I have some images on hand that I can turn into cards quickly.   I’m also going to use this challenge to “practice” my coloring.

This time, I am going to take her challenge and color every day for the next 30 days.  So, what does that mean?  Well, I will probably get behind in reading my emails, and responding.  And I will probably get behind in reading some of the blogs that I follow.  I know myself.  Once I start coloring, it is hard to color for only 10 minutes.  I want to work on an image until I feel it is done.  My problem sometimes is getting started.  I can always think of things I need to get done and then before I know it, I am too tired, or it is to late to start coloring or card making.  So…I have spent the last couple of nights getting things ready for the challenge.

With this challenge, I’m going to make myself color every day.  I always say that I need to have more cards made up in advance and that I seem to be a “last minute” person for getting a card made for a special occasion.  I am always so busy between working everyday and taking care of my home.  My husband is a big help with some things as he is retired, but there are days when I am so tired from work and things around here that I just fall into bed at night.  I don’t get much accomplished in my card making unless I have a deadline (one that I made).  Then I seem to get it done somehow.

I will be posting my “coloring” of the day on the Facebook page, and possibly also on my blog with a short post…I’ll have to keep them short as I do want to color.  You may see some images partially colored.  Hopefully I will use several different mediums to color the images, but I intend to concentrate on my Copic markers and my colored pencils, both Prismacolor and Polychromo colored pencils.

I just wanted to let everyone know in case I seem to disappear for a period of time.  I hope to possibly make some short videos of my coloring…probably not very good ones I fear.  I have never made any videos of my coloring, but thought I might give it a try.  Why not REALLY challenge myself!  LOL!  Hopefully you will see some of these images colored!

Happy coloring and crafting, and hey, why not join the challenge!
